First Tbilisi International
Summer School in

"Logic, Language, Artificial Intelligence”

Dedicated to the memory of the founder of the school of classical mathematical logic in Georgia,
the honor scientist of Georgia, Shalva Pkhakadze

The Goals of the Summer School

The main driving task of the Tbilisi International Summer School in "Logic, Language, Artificial Intelligence" is to construct technological alphabets for Georgian and Abkhazian languages, in other words, to construct the artificial intelligence systems completely knowing Georgian and Abkhazian languages, necessity of which is directly caused by Georgian state obligation to protect Georgian state languages - Georgian and Abkhazian languages from the danger of digital extinction in the rapidly forthcoming digital age.

In this way, the main first stage aim of the Summer School in "Logic, Language, Artificial Intelligence" is to make clear to the students of the school, predominantly to the local students of the school the objectives, methods, results and the perspectives of the interdisciplinary scientific field of the logic, language and artificial intelligence, which has a very high cultural value in nowadays for any nation, for any language.

At the same time, the abovementioned, and it is very clear, is an obligatory basis for ensuring further inclusion of local young scientific staff in this important interdisciplinary scientific field, and it is also very clear, that this inclusion vitally important for the culturally protection and technologically development of the Georgian and Abkhazian languages, which for today - in rapidly forthcoming digital age are the technologically very insufficiently supported and, accordingly, they are in the high level danger of digital extinction in the digital age.

Constitution of Georgia

The official language of Georgia shall be Georgian, and, in the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, also Abkhazian. The official language is protected by the organic law.

„When the parents take away the mother tongue from their children and instead making them to develope in a some foreign language, what do they do by this? - By this they take away their children from the greatest and matchless teacher and give them in the hands of a careless and soulless one. There is no need to be too forethoughtful to foresee for such children a hopeless future." - Iakob Gogebashvili (1840-1912)

„The first sign of the nation's identity is a language“ - Ilia Chavchavadze (1837-1907)

„Which European languages will thrive in the networked information and knowledge society, and which are doomed disappear? ... Europe needs robust and affordable language technology for all European languages“ – The META-NET’s study “Europe's Languages in the Digital Age” (2010 – 2012)
